Filofax: Personal Deep Pink Domino

Welcome back! Today's post will be about my new baby, my personal Domino in Deep Pink! After searching everywhere for this, I finally got it from a lovely lady over on IG named Jhet, her IG account is leavingonajhetplane. Go check her out! She makes wonderful handmade cards. Now, onto the reason of this post!
A few goodies Jhet included with the planner. So sweet of her!

The domino is made of smooth PU leather outside and cream suede touch PU inside. I love the way it feels stiff - I think this is why I won't 'baby' this as much as I 'baby' my Malden and my Original.
Its spine has the usual embossed Filofax logo.

The domino has one elastic pen loop located on the left hand part of the Filofax.

On the left hand, there are 4 card slots, 1 full depth pocket, and 1 vertical slip pocket.
On the right hand, there is 1 vertical slip pocket and 1 elastic pen loop.
The ring mechanism is 0.9" according to the Filofax website.

Let me tell you a few pros & cons about the Filofax Domino in Deep Pink.

PROS
  • If you love happy colors, you'll surely love this deep pink!
  • Elastic pen loop, the location of it is easily accessible. It is easy for the pen to slide in and out (depending on its size).
CONS
  • Elastic closure - may stretch over time depending on usage but it is repairable.
  • May be scratched easily
Overall, I love this Filofax. Will definitely recommend this to anyone, newbie or not!
Thanks for your time.
Til next time,
Lara

How do I start using my Filofax?

"How will I use my Filofax?"
That was the first question that popped in my mind when I got my first ever Filofax. I didn't know where to start! I'm guessing there are still some people who are in the same position where I was before (3-4 months ago) so why not share a few ideas and tips that helped me start using my planner.

Tip #1
  • Try out different inserts
There are a lot of weekly, monthly, or yearly inserts you can choose to use. At first, I was just using the week on 2 pages that came with my Filofax. It worked well for me since I'm not that busy. I recently just started using the month on 2 pages I printed out from Kel's blog. I like that it gives you an overview of the month. I use it to mark birthdays and events.
Use any type of insert that you think will suit you the most. If you're not really a fan of the inserts that come with your planner, check out these shops: KiddyQualia & Piaric. I've heard tons of positive feedback about their inserts!

Tip #2

  • Decorate your pages
This is optional but for me I enjoy planning more because of the cute designs I see! I decorate each week with my current mood on that day I design it. I get my inspiration from the various FB groups I'm in too. One group I'm in is Filofax Decorated Pages. It's a closed group but I'm 99% sure you'll get accepted! A lot of creativity is shown over there!

Tip #3
  • Organize your tabs/sections
I currently have 4 sections in my Filofax - Daily, Money, Miscellaneous, and Extras. Under the daily section, I have there my week on 2 pages and my month on 2 pages. Under money… that's self explanatory! Under miscellaneous, I keep my random lists in there. And under extras, that's where my extra sheets of paper and inserts are.
Organize your Filo to your liking!
By the way, having pretty dividers also help beautify your planner ;) There are a lot for sale on etsy.

Tip #4
  • Find inspiration
Find pictures to motivate you to use your planner! I mostly get my inspiration from accounts on IG. Searching with the hashtag filofax brings me to a whole new world (lol) Seriously, it's another world in there! Search it and you'll know what I mean!

These are the top 4 tips I personally follow as a beginner in the Filofax world and even until now, after having my planner for about 4 months now. I hoped these helped you find your way in the Filofax world as it helped with mine. Thank you for reading!

Filofax: Personal Aqua Malden

Hi everyone! I just got my aqua Malden a few days back and I'm super excited to share my short review with you guys!

I ordered this from totandmom on Instagram. The seller, Grace, was very patient and friendly! 101% excellent customer service. :)

It came beautifully wrapped in bubble wrap and placed in a box. It's disappointing how Filofax stopped selling their planners with the black signature boxes for protection. Nonetheless, having the plastic is better than nothing!

It's definitely in the greener tone than in the aqua, sort of blue tone. I'd describe the color as teal!

The little details, the texture and the stitching is heavenly!

When you open it, you will see 7 pockets. 4 card slots, 1 full-length, 1 zippered, and another pocket behind the zippered one. Talk about never needing anymore pockets! Haha! I personally don't use the pockets as much so I'll probably leave it a little empty or fill it up with some cute little bookmarks.

Maldens have super soft leather and long straps meaning, they can hold a lot more papers or inserts.

When you flip to the back, you will see one pen loop, another full-length pocket and a pocket for the notepad, mine did not come with a notepad, more empty pockets for me!

The pen loop is NOT elastic. I'm not exactly sure which pens could fit but my Muji pens could not, unless I force them too, which I wouldn't do. I'll probably hang it at the side or attach another pen loop somewhere. Not big of a problem to me since I carry a pen pouch together with my Filo case every time.

So, that's it for the short review! Hope you found it helpful, one way or another.
I'm thinking of doing a video about this, should I? Leave your thoughts below!
